Bye bye 2013!

I am wearing Happy Blue Year tonight, going to maybe eat a burger and have a drink or two.

So yeah I ended up taking out the red in my hair and I just recolored it brown again.  Boy what a mess that was.  I will post pics and review later.

So getting some furniture soon and we had to move Mortal Kombat into my nail room lol.  So thats what you see behind me.

Here's to a new year, and please stay safe!  Love you guys!

Happy Holidays!

Wishing you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas!  I am wearing 3 coats of Sleigh Bells Bling.

I plan eating a lot of naughty food, what about you guys?

Feature in Nail It! Magazine

Hey guys!  I was asked if I would like to be in a web feature for Nail It! Magazine, um yes?  Check it out HERE.

I decided to come up with a fun layering manicure for the feature.  I call it O Tannen Bomb. Hah!

This is 3 coats of Evergreen, 1 coat of Sleigh Bells Bling, and 1 coat of Mumbling over that.  The photo does not do this any justice. It sparkles like crazy!  This is going to be my holiday mani for sure!

The nail polish community is truly a wonderful group of people. I can't believe how lucky I am. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! I love you guys!

Palty Strawberry Jam and Loreal HiColor Intense Red Review

The last time I colored my hair was August 3rd!  My dark roots were very obvious so I wanted to try a different brand of Japanese box dye since I had such good luck with my last one.

Palty Strawberry Jam.  Normally I go back to black in the autumn, but in a spur of the moment decision I thought it would be fun to try red!

Before.  I had my hair in a high bun all day and just took it down, very mess.  Not enough lighting also made my hair look black here.  Used flash in the rest of the photo to show the brown from my last coloring.

 Before roots.

Before with hair mustache.

After Palty.  I had my hair up but honestly this dye was so crap that I did not even bother to mess with my hair.

After roots.  You can still see some of my roots are darker.  I also had a ton of uneven spots all over, even though I had saturated all of my hair.  Very disappointing.  I braided my hair to hide the streaky patches, it was embarrassing!

The Palty dye was hard to apply because you mixed it in a cup with a little paddle that had holes in it. I forgot to take pics.  I also left it in for 45 minutes and it burned my scalp.  As you can see it looks nothing like the box color, or even very red at all.  It just looked like I lightened my hair with a hint of pink.

The conditioner packet that came with it was very tiny, and I didn't have enough to put into my hair.  It also smelled bad!

Well anyways, not very happy with the Palty dye.  Although I can't say if it is this bad for the other colors, but I definitely recommend staying away from Strawberry Jam if you have thick dark stubborn hair like mine.

  • Can bubbles be a pro? It foamed in the cup and it was fun to stir...

  • Hard to apply. Especially at the bottom of the cup it is hard to get the rest out.
  • Damaging
  • Practically zero color payoff
  • Uneven coverage

Now onto the Loreal color!

Shade in Intense Red.  I mixed this according to the box instructions (2.5 oz developer and your color creme).  I have 40 and a 20 developer so I mixed equal parts in. I thought the 40 was too much but 20 not enough.

Loreal HiColor Intense Red After.

This is 3 days after coloring. I washed my hair on the day I took these photos.  I still had red running down the drain.

Covered up my greys!

I wanted more of a cherry red so I am not completely happy with the color but it will do for now.  This is very magenta looking.

  • Vibrant color
  • Covers greys
  • Works on dark hair (box does say for dark hair!)
  • Easy to get (Sally Beauty)
  • Easy to use
  • Didn't need to bleach beforehand

  • Very smelly (even after washing my hair on day 3 it still reeks of the dye)
  • Messy! Red! Everywhere!
My Palty dye job was so embarrassing I only waited 6 days before going ahead with the Loreal Hi-Lift.  I did wash my hair really well mid-week to try to get some of the dye out, then waited 3 days to let my natural oils come back.

I had to renew my Sally's card this month so I will go back in January and spend my $5 credit on a more cherry red color.  Suggestions?

Thanks to Katherine (@ManicureAddict), Ashlee (@anvelasquez1207) and April (@_aprilmaybe_) for your suggestions!

Have you ever had a hair coloring fiasco? Would you go fiery red?  Thanks for reading!

Purchased with my money.

Oyatsucafe Review and Video!

Hi guys!  I was sent some items from a shop called they are an online store that sells Japanese snacks.  Totally what I am craving for, all the time!

I made a video of me trying all the food that I could on camera.

Powdered drinks that you pour with hot water!  Caramel Macchiato, Matcha and Cafe Latte.

Maruchan instant ramen, miso flavor.

Maruchan instant ramen, soy sauce flavor.

Calorie Mate.  Oh boy I can't believe they still make these.  I used to eat these as a child.  They are like a dry biscuit/cake consistency.  This one is maple flavor, and there are little tiny bits of something chewy throughout.  The maple flavor is very subtle and overall this doesn't have much flavor, although I don't think this is meant to be super tasty, more like a supplement/meal replacement type thing.

I would not recommend this for a tasty snack.  Speaking of tasty snack, a good one is any type of umaibo!

Mabo Tofu!  I cannot wait to try this!  Basically this dish is cubed tofu, ground meat, and the mabo tofu sauce.  I will share after I cook this up!

Passion fruit Kit Kat!  YUM!  These were delicious, the fruity flavor was strong, it wasn't too sweet either. Aaah I need more!  Sadly as of right now, these were not in stock.  They have 3 other flavors in stock currently, vanilla bean sounds pretty good.

Lemon Cider hard candy.  These fizz on your tongue, like a tingly soda pop feeling. Tangy and sweet, very refreshing.

I was browsing their store before my package got here and I know I'm going to try their candy kits.  They also have a section called We Love Matcha! Gah, I die.

They are located in Japan and they price their shipping by weight.  I have 6 items in my cart right now and shipping is $10.  I have 2 heavy items in there (curry and maybe Kit Kats lol).  Also if you choose the economy ship it can take 7-14 days to get your package.  Pretty reasonable since it's coming from Japan.

Thank you Oyatsucafe for letting me try these products  (Sent to me for review)!

Wildwood, this is a green jelly with iridescent glitter.  It is darker in person.

OPI Designer Series 2013 Lapis and Pewter Review and Swatches

2 new Designer Series from OPI.  These have a matte textured finish.
Pewter 3 coats, no topcoat.

3 coats, no topcoat.

With topcoat.Pewter was a little thick, but was very easy to apply.  The glitter went on evenly and smoothly with 1 swipe.

Fast drying.  Looked really good at 2 coats but applied 3 anyway.

Lapis, 2 coats no topcoat.

2 coats no topcoat.  You can see up close that the texture is not like the Liquid Sand polishes, but more subtle.

2 coats with topcoat.  Fine silver and blue glitter in a blue base.

At first glance of the bottle I thought it was a deep purple but it is a pretty blue! For me this had a pretty thick formula which made it difficult to apply. I guess it makes up for it with opacity, only needing 2 coats.

The matte finish just didn't really do it for me, I liked both the colors with topcoat more. I guess I am just a shiny girl!

What do you think of the latest Designer Series colors? The DS shades will run you $12.50 at your authorized OPI stores.

Sent to me for review.

Color Club Evolution and Pearl-spective swatches

Happy Friday!  Anyone have exciting plans?  Me, after work gonna make spaghetti squash for dinner and find something to binge watch on Netflix.

I have a couple of Color Club shades to show you today.

Evolution 3 coats.  Pale aqua blue creme.  It applied thin at first, but by the 3rd coat it was very opaque.   I think this is such a pretty color, I can't wait to wear it again!

Pearl-spective 1 coat.

I did black french tips with this to show the color of the glitter.  It flashes pink, blue and purple.  This is a great way to spruce up an old mani.

You can purchase Color Club from their website here.  They are $8.00 each.

Our Breaking Bad Series Finale Dinner (no spoilers just food!)

I really wanted to go all out and make blue crystal cupcakes and stuff, but Saturday night I was so exhausted after work I dragged my feet around the super and just grabbed this stuff.

Thick boneless porkchops.  Next time I may get bone in.  Oh I trimmed most of the fat after this picture.

Baked potatoes.  I saw a picture on Reddit and it looked so good I had to give it a shot.  A good tip I read there was to put a wooden spoon handle next to potato so you don't cut all the way through.  I sliced this by hand.

Was in the oven for an hour, and took it out to put some cheese and bacon on it.  I cheated and used turkey bacon.  1 less step to take.  I like the skin on baked potatoes, but if I made this again I would peel it because it got a little hard and crunchy with the long cooktime.  This went back in the oven for 35 more minutes (375).

I put salt and pepper on the pork an hour and a half before cooking.  30 mins before they hit the pan I put them out on the counter.  I patted them dry and put a little more salt and a sprinkle of sugar right before I cooked them.

I flipped the pork every minute or so for about 6 mins and then poured about a cup of stock into my pan and covered for 5 minutes.  Once they were 140 fahrenheit inside I put them on a plate and covered with foil to rest for 10 minutes.

The left pork chop you can see 2 dots where I took the temp.  This left one was less juicy than the right.  When I first pulled off the foil after resting, the juice you see on the plate was only around the left chop.  The right one was super juicy.  Lesson learned, don't poke it twice!

There were delicious looking nibbly bits in the pan so I made a gravy with it.  It was salty so I just added some water until I liked the taste and thickened it with some starch.

Even tho I didn't make the cupcakes I still had to make dessert!  This was turtle caramel brownies.

Had to have something blue so here is blue Kool Aid, this was really good!  I think it is blue raspberry lemonade.

The dinner on a plate.  The pork was huge so I couldn't finish it or my potato half, oh well this will make a good leftover for tomorrow.

Good show, good dinner, my night was made!
