Follow up on Nubar Diamont

When Nubar contacted me about the Diamont formula change, they also offered to send me a new bottle (with the old formula) to try out.

It arrived today so I took off my mani (Barielle Pink Sherbert in case you were wondering) and tried it with 3 coats of Color Club Magic Elf.  Oh the first thing I did was open the new one and sniff it.  Yup, smells like rubber!  A good sign, and very rarely can you say you want a product to smell rubbery.

Here is a picture of my old and new bottles.  It looks like the brush is different on the newer bottle but it's the same, I went and checked!

They even changed the bottle front back to the old design.

I applied my old treasured bottle on my thumbs and the rest of my fingers I used the new bottle.  After applying Diamont on my 10th finger, my pinky (first finger I apply) was dry to the touch.  After checking again an hour later, it is shiny and very dry.  Yay!

Nubar says that all their current stock is with the good formula now so you can order with confidence.  I'm sure if they mess it up they will fix it for you asap.  I had a broken bottle issue when I ordered from them before and their CS was really excellent and handled it fast.

2 of these were sent to me to review, I bought the other.

Awesome News About Nubar Diamont!

I heard from Nubar this morning with some exciting news: they are going back to the old Diamont formula!   As of now all their current stock is back to the old formula as well.  I am so thrilled that Nubar listened to us and fixed something that just wasn't working.  Now you guys can bust out all the old bottles you've been hoarding because they're not rare anymore! Yay :)

I'm on my lunch break so I won't be able to tally the Apothica entries til late tonight. I will announce tomorrow, thanks for your patience!

China Glaze Don't Be A Square

2 coats no topcoat.  An oldie but still a goodie!

I'm pretty busy this week so probably no updates until the weekend.  I will announce the Apothica giveaway winner tomorrow or Wednesday.

Funky Fingers Southampton Seafoam

Southampton Seafoam 3 coats. This is another contest prize :D I have a huge ridge in my middle finger and for this mani it chipped right on the ridge.  I got so many compliments when I wore this.  To me it's a mix between a mint green and Tiffany blue, lovely.

My plan for the weekend is to bundle up and crank the heat up!  Have a good one :)

Chilly Day

This is in my front yard by my kitchen window.  They remind me of holly berries.  It's supposed to rain all weekend starting tomorrow, but I like rain.  Am I weird or what?

Fingerpaints Icy Iris

Icy Iris 2 coats. Another lovely polish I won from My Latest Obession, a rich shimmery purple.  I have several more notd posts before my nail break coming up! :)

Wavy hair with a bun!

The past 2 or 3 weeks I have been doing this natural wavy hairstyle.  Best part about it is I can skip the flat iron and just blowdry!  I used to do this all the time but I recently cut my own hair and went for short layers which is I think what makes the bun work.  Before the layers the waves were looking kinda wonky.  I'm also lucky and my hair holds a curl really well.

I let my hair air dry for an hour (it's so long and thick) after my shower then I blowdry it.  While it's still warm I twist it into a tight bun and clip it for about 30 mins.  Enough time for the hair to cool.  If I'm in a hurry I will put the blowdryer on low and hit the bun with it to give it more heat.  Otherwise I will put my makeup on or read my email while I leave it in the bun.  After at least 30 minutes I run my fingers through my hair and that's it!  I like doing this because it's random waves so somedays are better than others but that's the fun part lol.

I've always wanted a digital perm but now I think I don't want one because I like these waves!

I'm on my 3rd day of CC Enchanted Holiday and surprised it hasn't popped off yet.  You know how glitters love to pop off in whole pieces.  I'm bad about it too, I love picking off glitter if I see a corner sticking out lol.

Color Club Enchanted Holiday Swatches and Review

Like the Halloween set, these are so cute!

Holiday Gems, sold separately.

Enchanted Holiday 1 coat with Seche Vite topcoat.  Very opaque and I don't care for golds too much but this one looked really good on me.

Magic Elf 2 coats with Seche Vite topcoat.  A shimmery green with golden flecks.  I think I could have used a 3rd coat since it's a bit sheer.  I love this one!

Snowflakes 2 coats with Seche Vite topcoat.  This was difficult to apply it was very thick.

At first glace I thought this might be a dupe for China Glaze's Glacier but it was not.  The light colored glitter is kind of the same but that's where the similarity ends.  There are bits of white glitter mixed in to give it the "snow" effect which I liked.  I'm a sucker for odd glitter!

Wish List Red 1 coat with Seche Vite topcoat.  That wasn't a typo, ONE coat.  I love 1 coaters!  This dries gritty so you will need a thick topcoat.  This is looking dupey with ChG Ruby Pumps and Nubar Ruby Red Glitz with it's fine red glitter in a red base.  Whenever I'm feeling the red glitter I know I will be reaching for this one.

So now it's time to spam you with layered over black pictures!  These are all 1 coat over 1 coat of Color Club Bewitching.

I think these all look fantastic over black.

I really like this whole set.  Wish List Red and Enchanted Holiday are so opaque you only need 1 coat.    Snowflakes was thick and goopy, maybe needs thinner but I still like the look.  My favorite was Magic Elf, such an interesting green I don't own anything like it.  I want to franken with it lol.

I haven't had a chance to try the decals or gems yet so I will show you a look with them later. :)

This set is available now and retails for about $8.50 at most etailers (I like Victoria Nail Supply).

These were sent to me for review.

Nubar Ruby Red Glitz Comparison and Sale

The middle and ring finger nails are the ones in focus most, so click to enlarge and just look at those two to compare. They look pretty identical to me, though in some lights if I move my fingers around one would shimmer a slightly different color.  I'm just nitpicking, to the naked eye I don't think you can tell at all.

I was going to do a swatch that also includes the new holiday Color Club in this mix, I will post that tomorrow!

Nubar is having a 30% off sale starting today and ends November 30th.  The code is NOV3030 and if you go over $75 after discount free shipping is applied as well.

Quick NOTD + Box vs. fingernail

This gold is Color Club Enchanted Holiday from their mini set this year and on my thumb is 2 coats of Color Club Wonderland (from last years holiday mini collection) and 1 coat of Snowflakes.  I will have my review of Enchanted Holiday set tomorrow.

I had a fight with a cardboard box and the box won lol.  It's a little sore but not too bad.  Nails aren't tools but I never learn.

1000 Followers Giveaway!

I hit 1k followers recently and while I don't have many prizes they are very special to me.  First of all, thank you so much for reading and following my blog you guys are the best!

I made a tiny franken holiday set. I am SO excited to give these away! Want to see?

Here are some in the making shots.

My thick base sits in clear!

This one is pretty all by itself.

Destined to be blue.

The first 2 don't have names yet but the blue one is called Bibidi Babidi Blue.

This is similiar to my Happy Holidays franken but it's 100x better!  I changed the recipe and there is 2 kinds of green glitter in there.  I wish I had this version lol.

Holographic blue glitter goodness!

This one is supposed to represent Autumn, fall leaves and stuff.

This one is a black creme (CC Master of Disguise hah) turned holographic!  It has a purple tint to it so it will shimmer purple as well.  I'm not sure what it looks like on the nail since I don't test frankens meant to go to other people.

I am dying to see this on someone's nails so if you win them please send me pictures!

So things to note about these frankens:

  • The 3 glitters are brand new Sally Hansen bottles, as well as the polishes inside.  I only purchased the clear polish ones so no acetone has been used on these bottles.
  • All the glitter I use is new and cosmetics grade.  The black holo before it was frankened was swatched on 1 hand once.
  • The glitters don't settle :D
So here are the rules:
  • Please be my blog follower, since this is meant for you guys!
  • Open worldwide
  • Starts today, 11-14 and will end on Sunday 11-28.
  • One entry per person.

 Good luck!

    I made sushi!

I only made rolls but they were tasty!  I ate half before I realized I needed a picture hence the lacking photo lol.

    China Glaze Zombie Zest

Zombie Zest I forgot the coats I think it was 2.  The name suits this one well lol.  An odd color but I like them that way.

I won an awesome giveaway from My Latest Obsession it included the Halloween set and I went straight to this one first.  Thank you so much I love all the polishes I will be trying the rest of them soon!

It's so cold at night I like hot soup for dinner, last night was ramen!

I am having a 1k followers giveaway starting sometime this weekend.  It's not a huge one or anything but here is one of the polishes.  It's a franken!

    My lounging dog

Why Belle likes to sleep on shoes is beyond me.  Usually when she does this she sticks her snout inside a shoe lol.  My other corgi loves to sleep in her doggie bed.

Nubar Holiday Jewel Basket Swatches and Review

Nubar's Holiday Jewel Basket is a sparkly 9 piece set that also includes a basecoat and quicky dry topcoat.

I pulled the trigger on this prematurely while I was editing aaah sorry about that. The publish post and save now buttons are too close!

Silver Glitter 2 coats with Seche Vite topcoat.  This is very opaque and sparkly and the glitter is a steel grey silver.

Gold Glitter 2 coats with Diamont topcoat. This doesn't suit my skintone but it is quite beautiful.

Grass Green Glitter 3 coats with Diamont topcoat.  Fine pieces of green glitter in a clear base, it also has some golden glitter here and there so it gives it a nice sparkle.  This was thin and patchy on me I had to go back and apply extra on my tips after my 3rd coat.

Competition Red 2 coats with Seche Vite topcoat.  A bright red creme.

Ruby Red Glitz 3 coats with Seche Vite topcoat.  Small red glitter is in a red base.  The glitter sparkles and looks suspended in your nails, absolutely stunning.

In the bottle, it looked similiar to Fire Sparkle but on the nail it is completely different.  Fire Sparkle is packed with glitter in a orangey red base and is very gritty while Ruby Red Glitz's glitter is sparse and more of a true red.  This is more of a dupe for China Glaze's Ruby Pumps.  Let me know if you would like me to do a comparison of Ruby Pumps. Click to enlarge to see the difference!

Pixie Dust 2 coats over a black creme with Seche Vite topcoat.  The glitter in the bottle looks so ethereal, but on the nail it is very subtle.  I had applied this over Competition Red but it didn't photograph well so I tried it over black.  It's very pretty if you want to give your mani a little extra sparkle.

Nubar 2010 1 coat over a black creme with Seche Vite topcoat.  I never got the dupe Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure so I can't wait to try this over different colors.  I love the way the flakes change colors I did this last so I could have a full manicure lol.

Now I have to mention something about Diamont, the quick dry topcoat that comes in this set.  I made an order several months ago and decided to try Diamont for the first time, which I thought was great. It went right to the top of my list with Seche Vite.

I opened up the Diamont that came in this set not knowing if it was the new formula that I've been reading about, but I smelled it and immediately knew it was different.  The old formula has a pretty distinct scent (to me smelled like melting rubber!).  I tried the new one with the 2010 mani above and 10 mins later, it was tacky and left fingerprints.  10 minutes is an eternity for a quick dry like the old Diamont.  It was late so after 15 minutes and it was still not dry at all, I put a coat of Seche Vite and called it a night.

I don't know why the formula was changed but the new Diamont is very disappointing and does not dry at all.  Nubar please bring back the old formula or fix the new one!

I've never tried the Foundation Base Coat so I will be using that and will let you know how it works out for me later. :)

This set goes on sale at on November 15th for $49.95, which is an awesome deal.  I think Nubar makes really great glitters, even the red creme is gorgeous!   All the glitters except for Grass Green Glitter (too thin) had the right consistency and opacity.  The formula was fantastic, the creme applied perfectly.  My favorites were Ruby Red Glitz, Nubar 2010 and Silver Glitter.

These were sent to me for review.
