Sally Hansen Cocktail Party

The past few days I've been filing my nails several times to a day to get them this short. It has been a painful process. As I type this the skin under my nails touch the keys and it is a very uncomfortable sensation that is hard to describe.

Why do this? I got fed up with not being able to do the simplest of tasks like picking up a bobby pin. I stabbed my eye the other day too. It was those pesky sharp corners I always kept! I like my nails super square, it suits the way they grow and photograph well. But in my real life they are a nuisance. Don't worry I will go square again soon. Didn't you know it's hip to be square?

I went to CVS to check out the 75% off cosmetics sale, I got there late so I had to settle for the scraps lol. There was a ton of SH polishes 1/2 off tho, even the older HD ones! Anyway I only got 1 SH and it was Cocktail Party. I'm so drawn to the darker colors in the store. I put this on and I thought it looked just like my favorite red jelly, Jane Hot Blooded.


Well well well, what do you know it's pretty much a dupe. I needed 3 coats of Cocktail Party and only 2 of Hot Blooded. Oh hey you know what's nice about nubbins? You don't have to worry about nail line lol.

Just the thumb is Hot Blooded. I think they're trying to ditch these square bottles so grab a bottle at your local drugstore quick!

  1. I think they're getting rid of them too, and I like square bottles! Shame, really. Not overly fond of the new "complete formula" bottle and brush! :(
    Well, your nails look super cute that length! I like my nails pretty square too, when I remember to file them, I'm with you. Do your nails grow super quick?
    This is a hot shade for short nails! Really pretty.

  3. I think your nails look nice either way, and these dark reds look really good on you. I know what you mean I've had long and short nails. The long ones poke and make things all the more difficult, but then you cut it and that feeling is like the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard. Squoval is the newest shape! Straight across, like a square, but then you just smooth out the edges. I think that's squoval. My nails never stay in shape!

  4. But I LOVE the way your nails look like this. I really love it when my nails are short. I can type so much better. And like you were saying, everyday tasks are so much easier.

    Which top coat are you using in this picture? Your nails always look glossy. Total nail porn!

  9. I know what you mean about the uncomfortable sensation of the skin under your nails touching things. I get that everytime I lose my really long nails.

  14. I think your nails look great either way. I always used to have long nails but now that I type alot for work the shorter length works better. I can relate to the poking yourself. I rolled over in bed one night and stabbed myself in the cheek and in the morning I had a good scratch. Ouch!

  18. Your nails look beautiful in that shade. There's always that one shade that looks extra special and I think this is the one for you. Maybe that's why you like it so much.
