A present from Australia

I recently won some polish from Nixxy's blog anniversary contest which arrived earlier this week. She included so many wonderful goodies! I am almost positive you guys all already read her great blog, but just in case you don't you should check it out. She is always witty and entertaining!

A cute little kangaroo too! Other items she included were some BYS makeup, a silver eyeliner, silver glitter mascara, glitter eyeshadow and a lipgloss.

I love lipglosses, and this one shocked me so much! Looks pretty normal, right?

It's lighted! When you unscrew the cap it lights up, how awesome is that? It smells sweet like grapes, I haven't tried this on yet but I will soon.

Thank you Nixxy so much for generously sending me this amazing prize package! I will be trying the polishes this week and show you all the colors more in detail. I can't decide what to try first!

China Glaze Black Magic

I will be stuffing my face with a lot of food today, how about you?

This is the China Glaze halloween glitter made for Victoria Nail Supply called Black Magic, I knew I had to have this when I first saw it at Body and Soul. This is 2 coats and 2 coats of Seche Vite to smooth it out.

Maybe I should have shook my bottle, I thought it would be more glittery. I still love it, the little bits of orange glitter looks like glowing embers to me.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Still kicking!

Hi guys! I'm still alive, I have less time to paint my nails lately so I'm sorry about the lack of updates. I love winter, but I sure hate the dry skin and nails. I've already lost a few corners since my nails are extra brittle, aaah!

So, what's new? I made an order with Victoria Nail Supply, I needed (yes, need!) the VNS halloween color by China Glaze. I haven't tried it on yet but it looks so cool in the bottle! I think I will wear that for Thanksgiving. Below is what I've been wearing for almost a week:

I have several untried Icing minis, this set all have this type of silver glitter in different colors. I chose the purple one to wear first, this is 2 coats with SV and day 4 I believe you can see some slight tipwear.

I put this on last night, oh man it is a total winner. My lamp picture does not do this polish any justice, I'm so sorry Emerald Sparkle! I think I could wear this forever.

Quick Random Stuff

Belle kind of fell out of her bed while she was sleeping, I thought it was cute.

Then 5 minutes later I turn around and she's really fallen out of bed! What a weirdo!

I forgot to post this, but I had ordered the Lippmann anniversary collection from Nordstroms online a while back, and I remember at the time it said it comes with 5 free samples. Okay, cool. Well when I received my polishes, there were no samples. I was sad only for a split second because I was tearing into Ruby Red Slippers a moment later lol. 2 days later, I saw this box on my doorstep...

It's huge! Even bigger than the first box that held my 3-piece set! You can see it almost covers the seat of our dining chair. I opened it and discovered a tiny plastic baggie containing, you guessed it, my 5 free samples. Wtf! What a waste of time, money and materials. I'm not sure if this picture does it any justice, the samples are sooo tiny in this box (click to enlarge).

Migi Nail Art Pens

I was contacted by Migi Nail Art to try some of their pens and they sent me 4 shades. A neon green, a pale cream color, a bright pink creme and a shimmery blurple.

Here is some random shapes and lines using the pink and green. The pink was thick and the green was thin. I like the thin consistency of the green better for the pen tip.

Each color unscrews with a brush for painting your whole nail, or you can pull the cap off to use the fine-tipped pen. There a ring that you can screw each polish into to make a longer pen, or you can leave one side unscrewed so you can set the polish down on the table for using the normal nail polish brush.

The pink polish clogged after one use, but this amazing little tool unclogged it! I didn't know what to do at first so I went to their website and found this video. It tells you how to use your pens and what to do when it clogs, very informative!

You just stick in into the pen tip and push it down, and it fixes any clogs.

One of my favorite quick and easy things to do is french tip dots. I used the blurple shimmer and dotted my tips over Essie Great Expectations.

This is the very first thing I did, just some squigglies. Then later it gave me the idea for a Hostess cupcake mani.

I wanted to make the white swirl in the center of the chocolate frosting lol.

You can purchase these pens at their website here. They also have some design ideas with step-by-step instructions. They have a lot of colors to choose from which are sold in 8 piece sets.

Thank You Brooke!

I recently found a couple of my old Jane polishes and showed them to you guys. Brooke from Getcha Nails Did saw the last one I posted, Rebellious, was low and offered to send me her bottle out of the kindness of her heart. I accepted and she not only sent me Rebellious, but another color called Infrared!

Isn't this totally a color I would buy? Yes! Thank you Brooke so very much for sending me these, you are such a sweetie!

Revlon Fantasy Lashes

I had Alex pick out which lashes to try first, and he picked Flirty. It is also the kind that you must glue on yourself, which I found out I was terrible at! Oh and speaking of glue, after I broke open the seal I kept trying to squeeze glue out and couldn't do it:

I cut the top of the tube off with scissors and discovered that I had a lump of rubber in there. I guess there must have been a leak in the tube and dried out. I ended up using a different glue from Sugar Cosmetics.

My scary before picture.

Wow I did it! These lashes are pretty dramatic, at least on me. As you can see from the previous picture I have no lashes lol.

I did not learn how to wear eyeliner until I was in my 20's. I still suck at it! I think the lashes make my eyes look a little bigger tho, score!

I don't know how to wear eye shadow.

Pigtails take off 5 years...

I might have to start wearing false eyelashes, these made my eyes pop! I usually wear glasses so on the days I wear contacts. Putting them on was difficult, I messed up twice on my right eye. I think with practice I could learn to do this more quickly. There is another kind that has the strip of glue already on the lashes so all you have to do is put them on. I will show you those in another post soon!

In case you are wondering I am also wearing:
  • DHC Q10 Cream Foundation in Yellow Ocher 02 (♥ Eki)
  • Nars blush in Deep Throat (Why Nars, why??!)
  • Maybelline liquid eyeliner (anyone know a better one for me to try?)
  • Acuvue 2 Colors in Opaque Blue
  • MAC lipstick in Cute-ster
  • MAC Cremesheen Lipglass in Boy Bait

Revlon Nails

Revlon offered to send me some false eyelashes to try out, I said sure and they also included some press on nails. I tried on this style called Mystic, it's pretty cute with a colored french tip with dots and some have a little rhinestone in it.

Each kit comes with 24 nails, glue, a cuticle stick and a little file.

The glue I found out from my first nail is very very runny! I got it everywhere, I smudged a nail with it and it got all over a couple of fingers on my other hand. I definitely need more practice putting these on, but what I ended up liking was to apply the glue on the fake nail (none on my real nail) and apply. You can see I got air bubbles on all of my nails except my index, that nail actually was way too large so it didn't have an air pocket. You can click to enlarge.

The only bummer was that most of these did not fit my tiny nails, even the smallest one was too large for my pinky. They all needed filing except for my ring finger, but I'm terrible at that sort of thing so I put them on as-is. This is not Revlons fault or anything, but if you have small nails like me you may need to do extra filing.

These nails were cute, I like the style and length a lot. You get the hang of putting them on after a few nails, and removal took about 20 minutes. I soaked my fingertips in pure acetone and they just melt off. You can wipe inbetween dips to help remove them. As long as you don't pick or pry them off they do not damage your nails at all. They are available at drugstores and such for around $7 a box.

China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-Le & Club Nintendo

I am wearing 3 coats of Secret Peri-Wink-Le with SV. My photos made this look blue, but there's definitely violet in there. Why do cameras hate purple, it's so frustrating! I have been wearing this all week, I love this color.

So I have decided that I don't really like this nail shape on me, it doesn't look bad or anything I guess it's just my personal taste. They have grown quite a bit so I will be going back to square next week. Actually looking at this photo I don't even think I shaped it properly, some of the nails are straight across and some have more rounded corners. Aaaaaah.

This is not nail related, but in July I found out one of the annual Club Nintendo Platinum rewards was going to be a Mario hat, I picked that immediately and have been waiting months for them to ship it to me. Well it finally came...

It came in a huge box with lots of air thingies so it wouldn't get smashed. It even came with instructions lol! I'm wearing secret periwinkle with wireless holo topcoat in this picture. Oh the instructions are kind of funny you can click to enlarge if you want to read it.

Inside is all padded and has elastic to keep it on your head.

This hat is ridiculous. I was afraid it wouldn't fit me since I have a pretty small head but it fit and the hat isn't very tall inside so it kinda pops off your head even with the elastic.

Crazy face shot, oops. Alex was taking pictures and I was laughing pretty hard so it was difficult to find a good shot!

If you own a Wii or a DS/DSI you can register your products at Club Nintendo for points that you can redeem for Nintendo stuff. Japan has such cool rewards and the US club nintendo is pretty lame I think. Oh well, I am a huge Nintendo fan so I don't care. I even like this hat.

I still have an upcoming post on Migi pens and Revlon stuff, hope to get those out next week. Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Halloween!

I did this a few weeks ago for fun and forgot to post it. It's kind of weird and random! My blogger wasn't working earlier so sorry for the late last minute post. We get zero trick or treaters at our house so it was a nice quiet night for us.

The franken Grace gave me, it's a dark mossy green with holographic glitter and some other flakies in it. I love it! She also said that I can name it, so I think I will call this one Gracefully Yours.
